Starport Delta is a light space station building strategy game for PC (Mac and Linux to follow) with an engaging campaign, free-play sandbox and competitive challenges.
For strategy fans who want the taste of space without personnel management, Starport Delta balances building, expanding and defending space stations from timed and event-based disasters. Players must maintain a holistic perspective of their station as they juggle their resources with unique upgrades and clever station design.
In late 2017 Cloudfire Studios noticed a dip in space based games, specifically in the strategy genre. One of the concepts that the team had previously discussed was a light strategy hex-based game with puzzle-like placement combining to form unique designs when constructing space stations.
A prototype was put together in early 2018 and then publicly showcased at Christchurch Armageddon Expo in New Zealand, a pop culture convention similar to Comicon in the USA. Initial feedback was very positive with people complimenting its simplicity and easy to understand rules similar to board games.
From then on, Cloudfire Studios has worked on building the full game complete with campaign, expanding on the initial prototype.
Public feedback was an extremely important factor throughout the development, with the game being showcased at every available event within New Zealand (Armageddon Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch & Tauranga) as well as being selected for the Indie Showcase at the New Zealand Game Developers Conference in both 2018 and 2019.
Starport Delta was also showcased at PAX East 2019 and will be at Dreamhack Anaheim 2020 as well as returning to PAX East 2020 immediately preceding its launch in March 2020.
